Removing Ebox from Spotter [+ Smart Mooring Data Instructions].pdf

Instructions

During regular maintenance it might be necessary to remove and replace the Spotter electronics box also known as the e-box.

Before you begin, please secure the Spotter safely. If you are attempting this in the field while the Spotter is moored you will need to take special precautions not to damage your mooring.

Please note that exchanging or “swapping” e-boxes between Spotters requires additional configuration steps which currently must be performed by Sofar. This is because the barometer and sea surface temperature sensor calibrations for each Spotter hull are stored in its corresponding e-box. If you need to swap e-boxes between hulls, please contact [email protected].

<aside> ⚠️ If you have a Smart Mooring, you can cleat off using the float line just below the surface float. This is a safe place to tie off. If you tie off using the Smart Mooring cable you could irreparably damage the cable.
