Updating your Spotter’s firmware version

To update your Spotter’s firmware review the chart below describing the various options based on the current Spotter model and installed firmware:

Over-the-air (OTA)

V3 Cellular Spotters can now update their firmware over-the-air, allowing you to remotely update your deployed device. To initiate an over-the-air firmware update please email us at [email protected].

SD Card + Console

A firmware update can be applied by placing it on the SD card. Further information on this feature is coming soon.

USB Installer - V3 Spotters

Any Spotter having a SPOT ID of SPOT-30XXXX or above (e.g. SPOT-30123R, SPOT-30124C…)

  1. Using Homebrew, install dfu-util:
    1. Install Homebrew, if you haven’t already
    2. In Terminal, run the following: brew install dfu-util
  2. Download and unzip the installer package
