Updating your Spotter’s firmware version

Keeping your Spotter up to date ensures it has the latest features and fixes.

There are two ways to update the firmware on a Spotter: OTA (over-the-air) and via USB.

OTA (over-the-air) Firmware Update

OTA firmware updates can only be applied to Spotters with firmware version 2.2.x and above that have a cellular line and an active cellular connection.

To initiate an OTA firmware update please email us at ***[email protected].***

USB Firmware Update

All other Spotters (with the exception of Legacy Spotters) must be updated via USB using the supplied USB cable.

Legacy Spotter Firmware Update

A legacy Spotter will have a four-digit Spot ID similar to SPOT-0123.

Legacy Satellite Spotters will have firmware version 2.0.0 - 2.1.x.

Legacy Spotters will have firmware version 1.12 and below.

If you need to update the firmware on your legacy Spotter, the maximum version available is v1.12 for standard Spotter, or v1.11.2 for some earlier Smart Moorings.

Please contact [email protected] if you need to upgrade legacy firmware.
