The Sofar Smart Mooring system is compatible with a variety of sensors to enable both out-of-the-box and custom operations. Your sensors come pre-integrated and configured for initial deployment and evaluation.
In this guide, you’ll find out how sensor data is logged and transmitted, learn how to review and adjust sensor configurations, and get detailed information on all compatible sensors and the data they collect and transmit.

During deployment, individual Smart Mooring sensor readings and aggregated timestamped samples are logged to the Spotter’s onboard SD card at rates defined by the system configurations. The aggregated samples are also transmitted via telemetry, either cellular or satellite, to the Spotter Dashboard and the Spotter & Smart Mooring API.
For more detailed information on the data collected and transmitted by specific sensors, refer to the Compatible sensors section.

Smart Mooring systems have configurable reading, sampling, and transmission settings:

Example where the system collects readings every 30 seconds for 15 minutes, then aggregates those readings into a sample, which is transmitted every 20 minutes.
Your Smart Mooring system will be configured for optimal performance based on the connected subsurface sensors, and the configuration will be the same for all connected subsurface sensors.
You can review the (read-only) configurations for a Spotter’s connected Smart Mooring sensors in the Spotter Dashboard. In the Map View, click the Gear icon in the Spotter card to open the Settings tab and scroll down to the Subsurface data transmission section.

To change the configuration of your Smart Mooring system, contact the Sofar Support Team.
Need help finding the right configuration? After an initial deployment phase, Sofar can review the collected data and share sampling strategies and system configurations that will work best for your environment and use case, so you can optimize data coverage and extend deployment durations.
