Why might I need this?
If the Spotter firmware update process is interrupted, the Spotter could be left in a state where no LEDs light when powered on in RUN mode. These steps can help recover from that state.
Tools needed
- two paperclips
- hex wrench
- USB-C cable
- pay attention to cable type:
- avoid “charge-only” cables which do not carry data
- avoid high-spec Thunderbolt-capable cables if possible
- Mac or Windows computer
Preparation
- Carefully lift the Spotter electronics box (ebox), and disconnect cables, as described in Removing and Replacing Spotter Electronics Box (E-Box)
- Open the battery compartment as described in (Spotter 3 / Non-Bristlemouth) Smart Mooring Bridge Firmware Upgrade Guide
- Leave the battery connected to Spotter
- Orient the ebox so the solar connectors are on top, and barometer port & other ports are on bottom
- Look for the three small holes near the battery strap. You will use two of these with the aforementioned paperclips.

Main process
- Leave power switch ON
